Wallet / One Story A Day series

One Story A Day is an independent personal project where I select any ordinary thing and create a story around it. One Story A Day project is meant to demonstrate how business and product storytelling can be done & how effective it is. I do one product story every day 🙂

For: Women above 50

My grandmother called out to me one hot afternoon as I was walking by her room. From the way she asked me to sit down, I knew she was in a sombre mood.
Never tell a man how much money you’ve really got,” she said. She then explained further..
After a man, money is a woman’s biggest security. And he will find a way to take it from you.
You see, money gives you freedom to be.
And men are not comfortable with a strong woman.”

This was a part of the life lessons I had started receiving more often from my grandmother & mother right after a few weeks of me getting my first period. I was a woman now.

Ever since then I started noticing how caressingly a woman keeps her wallet, especially the ones I eventually noticed to be stronger & more individualistic women. They were more happier.

I noticed how slowly & with deliberate movements they handled their wallets, even in the middle of a purchase, and even in busy shopping malls where everyone else would be bustling, falling & running.

And all the things of absolute importance always went into their wallets, not in their purses or bags, but into their wallets. It was as if wallets were their special secret friends, best friends & they wouldn’t trust anyone else. A wallet knew their weaknesses, their plans & their strengths, their worth. It carried their self esteem, their self worths.

That’s how I learned what a wallet means to a woman, specially the strong ones.

Never let a man or anyone else take away your freedom to be. Keep it safe in this wallet, always with you.

*I am aware of the rules of the English grammar that I’ve broken in this story. They were deliberate 🙂
