One Story A Day is an independent personal project where I select any ordinary thing and create a story around it. One Story A Day project is meant to demonstrate how business and product storytelling can be done & how effective it is. I do one product story every day 🙂
I like the sound of the world Salbei. It turns so softly from aa to ei, like there was butter on this word.
It reminds me of a soft cloud in front of an evening sky radiant in rose and golden colors of the setting sun.
It feels like I have control, you know. I started gardening 4 months after my divorce from my husband of 12 years.
I was left alone with my daughter.
It was as if at 41 I realized that all my world, all my life that I had built around me was false. I felt like I had made it happen but in reality, it was more like life had happened to me, while I was sitting pretty and watching it.
I had wasted 20 years of my life in thankless jobs which didn’t give me any kind of satisfaction, except a low paycheck.
The divorce was like clouds had parted from my life.
Finally letting in sunshine.
I started freelancing from home, giving more time to build the home, to life, to raising my daughter, to myself…and in effect, earning more money.
I needed to do everything myself. Get my hands in the dirt. Weed out powerlessness. Nourish the possibilities. See. Smell. Taste. Smile. Watch my work grow into life. And then nourish me back. This purple prosperity-colored Salbei brought me back into an awareness, and it does every morning with its leaves blessing & fragrancing my warm cup of tea. Just holding it with both my hands, reassures me that I can control. And I do.
